translate your research and tell your story
We understand that outreach and communication is a crucial part of contemporary research. We work with grant writers, principles and researchers across disciplines to mold research into focused stories the public can understand. We are experienced in communicating scientific concepts and processes. In the field or at the lab, expand your audience and broaden your impact through our science outreach videos and photography.
We dive into your science to discover the compelling threads in your work and explore areas that resonate with a broad audience.
We work alongside professors, researchers, and PhD candidates to map their audience, select the platform and form a narrative to illustrate their work.
Once a grant is approved, we produce impactful media to share your science with the world. This includes the classroom, presentations, conferences, C.V.s, websites, and future grant applications.
Produced and written by Dr. Lindsey K. Alberston of Montana State University and directed and edited by Greg Cairns and Chet Stefan of Cairns Film. In partnership with the National Science Foundation, Montana State University, San Francisco State University, and the Stroud Water Research Center.
Dr. Albertson often uses this film in presentations on her research. She has two typical audiences; grade school students, and professional researchers at conferences. We thoroughly enjoyed working with macro photography on this project. Science outreach brings together elements of science video production, outdoor video production, and nature video production to create new and unique perspectives.
“Greg and his team at Cairns Film are insightful, organized, and professional. Designing projects with them was fun, and the outcome of my final film was better than I hoped for. I highly recommend him!“

“Greg does great work! I worked with Greg on an educational science outreach production. Not only does the production look great, but in my experience he does just as good of a job of understanding his clients needs and message. The approach that Greg takes is one that is truly important when communicating science (along with the many other important topics covered with his work) to a broad audience.”
